A large tabby tom walked beside the river, a much smaller cat at his side. The stars were bright as they always were in leaf-bare, sparkling like the snow that laid on the ground. Despite the frigid temperatures, the river wasn't frozen. The moon hung in the sky, telling the clan cats below that a gathering was on the way. The tabby tom turned to his apprentice Weepingpaw, '' This is the river, one of the many places in our territory. When it gets warmer I'll teach you a bit about fishing, though I'm no expert. '' he meowed, his fur fluffed up against the cold. He looked up at the night sky, '' A gathering is coming soon... I hope you understand when I tell you I don't want you coming. '' he meowed to the young tom. Weepingpaw was always calm so he probably wouldn't cause much trouble over not going.

Weepingpaw looked at the stars with his mentor. '''' A gathering is coming soon... I hope you understand when I tell you I don't want you coming. ''. his mentor asked. Weepingpaw's ear's pricked up when he heard the suggestion. He wanted to curl his lip in disgust. "And I hope you understand when I say that I am going, I care not of my own safety, nor will I need to, that is of course you teach me your ways of fighting. My own are not suitable for my needs." He cocked his head over to Sprucebrun's scar. "Teach me all that you know! So I may become much more powerful!" his smile turned to s smirk as he looked at his reflection in the rushing river.

Spruceburn flicked his ear as Weepingpaw spoke, deciding her would come to the gathering. Was he like this for Flameclaw when he was an apprentice? Poor Flameclaw. '' Even if you don't care for your own safety, I do and so do your clan mates. It's best if you stay at camp. We don't know much about MoonClan and we don't know if it'll be safe. '' He replied to his apprentice. '' And being a warrior isn't all about fighting and being powerful, Weepingpaw. There are other things like honor and loyalty, knowing when to fight, when to talk, and when to stay safe. Now is a time to stay safe. '' he finished with a flick of his tail. Spruceburn looked at their reflections and say that Weepingpaw was smirking. Was he being a bad mentor? Did Weepingpaw find his words stupid? I knew Wolfstar shouldn't have given me an apprentice... Darn him to the Dark Forest... The tabby tom thought bitterly to himself. Weepingpaw was just another cat who could either cringe or smirk at his face. The gray tom deserved a better mentor who could actually teach him something.

Weepingpaw's smirk faded when he realized what Spruceburns words were true. But found a flaw in his words. "How far will honesty get you when every one around you lies?" he shook his head, not letting the old thoughts get into his head. "But all things aside, we should start training, I already know how to hunt. So the next step would be?" He said with a more cherry sound in his voice.

Spruceburn was quiet at his apprentice's words, how far would honesty get him when all Wolfstar did was lie? Why did being a warrior have to be so complicated? Now was not the time to ponder those questions though. Now was the time to teach Weepingpaw. '' The liars eventually get bit in the tail by their own words. When the time comes let StarClan sort them out. '' If only that could solve anything... Spruceburn said sarcastically in his head. '' The next lesson is the light of StarClan, Weepingpaw. '' The tabby tom continued, blinking at the river that not only reflected himself and his apprentice, but silver-pelt too. '' StarClan is where we go when our time is up here. ''
If we live an honorable life as a warrior, we will be granted the gift to enter StarClan. StarClan gives us everything. They give us the kits that are the new blood of the clan, healthy and safe. They give us the endless flow of the river no matter how much the hot sun protests in green-leaf. They give us prey to feed our clan mates and at night, when the darkness surrounds us, they give us light with the stars above us. '' Spruceburn turned to face his apprentice, '' Stand tall, even when no one is looking Weepingpaw, for StarClan is always watching over you. ''

Weeoingpaw snorted, like he hadnt heard storys of “Starclan” from his friends and his late father and late grand-father, so he thought it only nessicary to have a little fun. “Now, let me ask you somthing, the rushing of the river has to do with starclan, and our food as well? Then what would hapen if I said this THERE IS NO STARCLAN!” he shouted very loudly, he then turnd Spruceburn's attention to the river. “The river still flows master, and I can hear a mouse in the distance, why hasnt your Starclan come and do somthing?” He said, a large grin streching across his face.
(Weepy can be a manipulitive ass-hole when he wants to be. XD)

Spruceburn didn't flinch, or show the slightest inclination that what Weepingpaw had said bothered him. The tabby tom remembered when he was Weepingpaw's age, he had questioned StarClan too. '' Maybe StarClan doesn't always make their presence known, because they are testing your faith? '' He returned the gray tom's question with another question. '' If StarClan isn't real, how do you explain Wolfstar's nine lives? Do you think Sagepool just makes up random things when she goes to speak with StarClan every half moon? '' Spruceburn paused but then continued, '' My face... I know you've noticed it, how can you not notice it? When my face got burned, I shouldn't have survived. Practically half of my body was on fire, but I didn't die. I had a vision of StarClan. They saved me Weepingpaw. I saw them, I saw a beautiful she-cat by the name of Juniperleaf. I could taste their scent, one of the sweetest scents I've ever smelled. '' The tabby tom looked over at his apprentice and then back at the river, '' I will not force you to believe in StarClan, but the optimist always got farther than the pessimist. ''

Weepingpaw cringed in anger, he was studying Spruceburn's movment, hoping that he would learn a new fighting skill, but all he got were lectures and storys about things he already knew! He wanted to see the angry Spruceburn, he knew there was much anger in this cat, he had watched his blind fury in amazment when he fought Emberflash, Weepingpaw knew there must be something that made him snap, and he just rememberd what. His cringe fell as he looked into the river. "So Spruceburn, whats the deal with you and your father?" Weepingpaw said false curiosity in his voice.

Spruceburn's one good eye narrowed in cold fury, a snarl fighting to escape his throat though he forced it down. The tabby tom resisted the urge to mutilate the ground with his claws and took a deep breath. Weepingpaw was just curious... He didn't need to go off on him, it wasn't his fault. He looked at his reflection instead of his apprentice, bile rising in his throat when he saw all of the similarities between him and his father. Oh how much he wanted to give Weepingpaw a good whack on the head and tell him to not mention their leader again... But no. Like he had thought before, Weepingpaw was just curious. '' Wolfstar and I... I didn't meet his expectations as a son and he didn't meet my expectations as a father. '' Spruceburn growled quietly to his apprentice.

Weepingpaw got a large grin on his face, this was the anger he was looking for, his mentors power was overwelming! It just needed one more push, so Weepingpaw made up a lie useing gossip he heard from the clan. "So is that why he is getting children that he thinks is better than you, why he is replacing you?" What could 1 lie do?
(I think we all know what is gunna happen in the near futer XD)

Spruceburn suddenly turned to Weepingpaw so that their faces were less than a mouse length away, making the young tom leap back a bit. His teeth were bared in a vicious snarl and his claws were digging into the snow. '' Young kits who think they know everything don't need to talk about things that don't concern them! '' He snarled at his apprentice. It was so tempting... Just hit him on the face, claws sheathed, so he could learn his lesson... No. Weepingpaw was just curious. Maybe a little too curious, but still. The tabby tom straightened up again, sitting rather rigidly. '' Wolfstar must think something of me if he gave me an apprentice anyway. '' He meowed quietly, looking at the ground instead of the river.

Weepingpaw snorted "Yeah, why he gave you the bastard child straight from Moonclan! Face it your father doesn't love you he never has! In fact as we speak he is replacing you! Why would he replace somebody he respects?! Face it, he only gave you me because he wanted you out of his hair when your replacement come's in! Face it! To him your better off dead!" Weepingpaw spat at the infuriated Spruceburn, knowing that this might get him killed or maimed he knew it was for the best.

All sense left Spruceburn, Weepingpaw was just asking for it. The tabby tom raised one of his big paws and hit the gray tom across the face, sending him tumbling a few mouse lengths. before his apprentice could get up, Spruceburn was standing over him with a paw over his throat pressing down. The strange alien that used his mouth spoke, though this time Spruceburn didn't care, '' As far as I'm concerned, you are no longer my apprentice. '' He growled in Weepingpaw's face, pressing down harder. Kill him. He deserves it. If he doesn't show you the proper respect, then he doesn't deserve to live. Suffocate him now and then dip his body in the river... You can say he fell in and he couldn't swim and he died before you could save him. Everyone would believe you, why wouldn't they? The voice whispered in his hear as if the wind was carrying it. Could Weepingpaw hear it too? No, the voice was only in his head... No. Even if he is a little brat, I won't kill him... I am a warrior. He answered the voice in his head and removed his paw from his apprentice's throat. '' You're dismissed. '' He growled at Weepingpaw, his one good eye flashing like green lightning.

Weepingpaw got up coughing, smiling. "You didn't kill me?" He spat at the ground. "Why didn't you kill me? My father would have at least broke my leg! Your too soft..." He muttered before jumping into the river, swimming down closer to Sunclan camp then stopped and turned around. "Think about what I said!" He yelled and continued to swim.

'' I didn't kill you because I'm a warrior. '' Spruceburn murmured to himself. '' But I'm not a warrior. '' The alien used his mouth to speak. Shut up. The tabby tom told himselfin his mind and then started padding back to camp, his tail dragging in the snow. '' Great. My first apprentice and I already messed up. Of course Wolfstar had to give me an apprentice like Weepingpaw... Stupid Wolfstar. '' He muttered to himself, growling the last few words.
