Wolfstar leapt up on top of the Shining Rock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, join beneath the Shining Rock for a clan meeting!" he called. He curled his tail neatly around his paws as he waited for his clan to gather
Seeing that every cat was there, he began. "Three kits have finally reached six moons and it is time that they are apprenticed." Wolfstar beckoned to Cloudkit with his tail. "Until she has earned her warrior name, this cat will be known as Cloudpaw. Icegaze, I feel you deserve an apprentice, please lend to her your thoughtfulness and skill." Wolfstar turned to Rainkit. "Until she has earned her warrior name, this cat will be known as Rainpaw. Greenlily, you are getting another apprentice. Please teach this cat all you know and lend to her your loyalty and ingenuity to this apprentice." Every cat fell silent and their eyes all went to the very last kit. "Weepingkit, come forward. Util he has earned his warrior name, he shall be known as Weepingpaw." Wolfstar hesitated, looking around at his warriors. His eye fell on a dark tom whose head was turned away from the rock. "Spruceburn, it is time for your first apprentice. Teach him all that you know and more." Wolfstar jumped down from the Shining Rock as cats began chanting their names. "Cloudpaw, Rainpaw, .....Weepingpaw!"

Spruceburn turned in shock to the Shining Rock. Wolfstar hadn't showed the slightest sign that he was going to give Spruceburn an apprentice. The tabby tom hissed underhis breath, he hated having attention on him. He hated when cats looked at him. Spruceburn walked forward, his paws felt like lead. His fur prickled with paranoia, it felt like every cat in the clan was looking at his face. What did Weepingpaw think? Was he angry that the stupid ugly cat was his mentor? Or would it be '' cool ''? Would Spruceburn be just a toy that made Weepingpaw cool because of his face? Before anymore thouhts could find their way into Spruceburn's head, Spruceburn found himself under the Shining Rock looking down at Weepingpaw. Not watching to see if Weepingpaw flinched, most cats did anyway, the young warrior bent down and touched noses with his his new apprentice.

The newly made apprentice smiled when he heard Spruceburns name for his mentor, and he continued to smile as they touched noses. *Yes, YES! Eagleflight, dad, now I will succeed, now I will win!* He thought to himself as he Stepped down from the Shining rock, and threw the crowd of cats. He stopped at the edge of the crowd. "I didn't realize how annoying ceremony's are," he said to himself. " I understand the moving up in rank but," he shuddered at what he was gonna say. "The attention, the chanting. Hell I wasn't even supposed to be here let alone be chanted for. But it will all paw off! I will say this only once. Thank you Wolfstar, for giving me Spruceburn as a mentor..." he cackled to himself before seeing Cloudpaw walk toward him.

Cloudpaw smiled at her new mentor, even though she knew Icegaze couldn't see. She was glad to finally be made an apprentice, and she liked the SunClan deputy a lot, but she was a little nervous about training under a blind cat. Then again, she might get better training that way, learning to hone her other senses as well as her eyes. She purred and touched noses with Icegaze briefly before padding over to where Weepingpaw stood on the outskirts of the clearing.
"We made it," she mewed, sitting down next to him and pressing her flank to his affectionately. "We're apprentices now. I don't really feel any different though, do you?"

Weepingpaw smiled and licked Cloudpaw behind the ear. "That is because nothing is different my love." he said. "We are no different than we were before, now you will learn to hunt and I will train, we also have a different name, nothing has changed." He said as he drank in Cloudpaws scent.

Rainpaw glared over gjealously at her sister and Weepingpaw. They looked like such a couple. It was all wrong. Rainpaw was supposed to be with him, not Cloudpaw. But he had chosen her sister over her, and said such cruel things. Rainpaw could still see the marks on his face from where she had slashed her claws. It had felt so good. But now, she was as lonely as ever. Stuck with a mentor who would never understand.

Greenlily narrowed her eyes as Wolfstar assigned Cloudpaw to Icegaze. It seemed fishy to her. She had had no quarries with the deputy, but the blind she-cat seemed to be growing closer and closer to their leader--to her mate. She didn't like it. Shaking her head to clear it, she padded over to Rainpaw and touched noses with her.
"Welcome, Rainpaw," she mewed solemnly, her voice carrying her bitterness unintentionally.
Greenlily didn't want to seem prejudiced, but after Wolfstar had left her she'd spent a lot of time watching him and she knew that he flirted shamelessly with all the other she-cats in the clan. Hell, when he was with her he still did it. Did he not love her? Did Spruceburn and Gladetail mean as little to him as she did? She didn't care if he chose to leave her for another she-cat, she'd get over it eventually, but could he really do that to their kits? Again?
She found that that was a question she could not answer. Love. What a pointless waste of time.

Spruceburn watched as Weepingpaw waked over to Cloudpaw, finding himself alone. He considered going back over to Birdsong, but then he saw his mother Greenlily. Spruceburn's heart twisted painfully. Emberflash had told him. Told him how Wolfstar and Icegaze were now ' together '. By the bitter look on Greenlily's face, Spruceburn could guess that the she-cat had her own suspicions. Should he tell her...? Spruceburn recalled telling Emberflash himself that Greenlily had a right to know, but was it really his place to tell her? Yes. It was. The tabby tom padded over to Greenlily, '' Hey Greenlily, can I talk to you for a second? '' he asked, nodding to a vacant corner of camp.

Emberflash watched bitterly as Spruceburn called to his mother. He understood their relationship, mother and son, but he could be causing unnecessary pain. He still held the doubt that nothing was happening because Icegaze couldn't stand to hurt her friend. Why couldn't Spruce understand that. He shook his head and glared at Spruce, his gaze saying, You're only making a small matter worse.

Greenlily blinked as she heard her name and looked up to see Spruceburn padding over to her. She plastered a false smile to her face, not wanting to show him how confused and angry she felt. Even if Wolfstar didn't live their kits, she did, and she didn't want Spruceburn to forget it. She dipped her head respectfully, warrior to warrior, as he came over.
"Condratulations," she purred. "Your first apprentice." Before she could say more than that, he asked if he could speak with her in private. Her expression fell slightly, but she nodded and followed him over to the corner of camp. Had he seen her expression? Perhaps he'd guessed about her feelings. She swallowed and turned to face her son.
"Yes, Spruceburn?" she mewed innocently, hoping that whatever he had to say was unrelated to his father.

Spruceburn smiled at his mother, Greenlily always had a way to make him feel happy and make everything right in the world. Even if Wolfstar hadn't always been there for him, Greenlily had. But now was not the time, they had to be serious. Wolfstar was doing it again and Greenlily had a right to know no matter how much it hurt her. '' Thank you Greenlily. '' Spruceburn lead the way over to the secluded corner and sat down, looking intently at Greenlily. The tabby tom remembered the first time she had seen her son with his mutilated face. He saw her flinch, despite the fact she tried to hide it. But she looked at him, no matter how much it pained her, she looked at him.
Now it was Spruceburn's turn to return the favor. He looked at his mother, seeing Emberflash in the background. His eyes spoke volumes, telling Spruceburn not to tell Greenlily, telling him it would only make things worse. He focused his attention back on Greenlily, this was best for her. '' I'm not sure how to tell you this, Greenlily... '' He meowed, looking at his paws, '' But you need to know this. '' he looked up seeing that Greenlily's attention was focused on him. It was to late to blow this off and make up something stupid. '' Wolfstar... Isn't faithful to you anymore... I honestly thought he had changed, but he hasn't... And... Apparently he had a secret litter of kits with Batflight... I don't know if he was ever faithful to you Greenlily. ''

Greenlily sighed, her green eyes falling from Spruceburn to her paws. "So you've noticed, too," she mewed after a long moment, finally looking up at her son again. "I was young and foolish when I fell in love with your father, and I've paid for it every day since. The only good things to come out of our relationship are you and your sister," she purred, leaning forward to lick his ear. She was upset, yes, but there was no reason to whine about it. Whining wouldn't rectify anything, and her son didn't need to take on all the weight of her saddness. She wouldn't let him.

Spruceburn pulled away from his mother, shocked by her '' I don't care anymore '' attitude. He blinked, and then the fur on his shoulders began to bristle. '' It isn't right and you know it Greenlily. It's one thing not to love us anymore, but to take another mate too? Wolfstar has gone too far! Wolfstar needs to stay loyal to one cat, and we all know that cat should be you. '' Spruceburn immediately stopped talking when he realized what was on the tip of his tongue. If Wolfstar isn't loyal to us why should we be loyal to him? Normally that wouldn't have much meaning, but with MoonClan around now... He had to be more careful about what he said. '' Wolfstar is pushing boundaries... '' The tabby tom growled to his mother instead, casting his father a dirty look from across the clearing.

Wolfstar groomed his face, licking his paw and rubbing it on his forhead. He did this several imes until he felt clean. He had sucessfully made three new apprentices, and they showed great promise. It made him happy and thankful for StarClan's grace. As he sat in the clearing, grooming and watching his clanmates, he spotted his son and his mate, they were talking on the far side of camp. Wolfstar perked his ears up as he thought he heard his name. Then Spruceburn gave him a dirty look. His mouth went dry. Did he...know?
