Hollyfrost and Cricketleap

As they walked slowly through the forest to the barren fields they sniffed the air. The moment they reached the edge of the field, rabbit hit him clear in the face, like it was on top of him. He looked, and right ahead of him was a rabbit racing full speed towards them, the smell of fear was heavy in the air. It didn't even notice them cause it was glancing behind it's self, at what it was being chased by, but they still couldn't see it. As it ran into him at full speed he already had braced himself for the impact, he made a quick nip to the hares neck, just to notice what it was being chased by, a fox. His heart was pounding in his chest and he was practically frozen in fear.

Hollyfrost smiled when they got there at first, she loved hunting she scenting a rabbit and followed Cricketleap's gaze to the rabbit she saw the fear in it's eyes, she wondered what it was running from as it kept looking back, Hollyfrost didn't notice the fox untill she saw Cricketleap's frightened look, she glanced over at the fox and froze instantly, she pictured a fox tearing it's way through the den, the sound of screaming kits filled her ears and her mother's terrified face hit her hard, she began to shake, the eariler fear rising within her.

Snapping into action he quickly picked up Hollyfrost and pushed her in the direction near the tallest tree, the fox had already spotted him though, it was about 2 fox lengths away and would be snapping it's jaws around his throat in a matter of seconds. He quickly glanced at Hollyfrost and hoped that she was going to be okay, keeping her alive was more important than keeping himself alive. If he had to sacrifice his own life to keep her alive he would. The fox snapped at him with such speed, but he was faster. Leaping back he got onto a flat rock he saw to the left of him, he used it as a platform to leap onto the foxes shoulders, all the while the fox was skidding to try and get at him. Now on the foxes shoulders, claws fighting for a grip under it's thick pelt, he felt himself starting to slip. He needed help, he knew he couldn't fight it alone. Slipping down it's side it fought to get a grip on him.

Hollyfrost felt herself nudged to the tallest tree she climbed up it easily shaking with fear and horror, she watched Cricketleap and how brave he was to take on the fox, she saw him slip and could only picture the horrible things that could happen, the fox coulf hurt him, the fox could KILL him, she dreaded the thoughts, she leapt down quickly and attacked the fox.

In the corner of his eye he saw Hollyfrost leap out of the tree. He sent a warning yowl out to her but she already attacked it, and seeing her actually attack a FOX gave him a new found strength to protect her. Double teaming and taking swipes at the foxes back and front leg he manages to get under its tail and clamp his teeth down on it's flea engulfed tail. He heard the bone snap and the fox yelped in pain, but he think he just got it angrier. He saw the glint in it's eyes.

Hollyfrost couldn't believe what she had done, before she knew what was happening she had leapt out and attacked the fox, she watched as Cricketleap broke it's tail bone, she wondered if it would run off scaredly, bu the look in it's eyes told her otherwise, she became scared again, but managed to attack it by swiping it's side.

Twisting and leaping with all his might he managed to leap on the foxes shoulders once again and sunk his claws deep into the it's flesh. It turned it's head in surprise as it did he aimed directly for it's jugular and bit down hard. He could feel it try and breath but it just spit up blood, it was drowning in it's own blood. it spurted out and hit him in the face, "Of course" he thought to himself, blood. The fox fell to the ground and eyed him trying to bark something, he knew what she was saying from his travels he had learned the language of the vixens. "M-m-y pu- pups" she sputtered looking dowjn at her belly. She would still live for another few minutes and he couldn't just let the pups die... he just couldn't, they were life too. "Hollyfrost is there anyway we can get them out of there?" he asked urgently.

Hollyfrost froze with fear as she saw the blood, she snapped out of it upon hearing the fox yelp, she had no idea what it said, but she did understand Cricketleap, "Hollyfrost is there anyway we can get them out of there?" he asked urgently, "I-I don't know" Hollyfrost said scaredly. "I-If they a-are old enough w-we could cut them o-out" She said fearing idea that they were to young.

The foxes belly was bulging so they had to be old enough. She was days away from giving birth, maybe even tonight. They could get them out of there for sure. Talking in barks to the fox he told her what they were going to do "Were going to save your pups" he told her. He dashed for the sharpest rock he could fine, this was going to be painful for the female fox. Slitting the sharp rock into the area where the pups were he could see bloody little pups he counted four. Reaching in he picked them out one by one. "Open the sacks so they can breath" he ordered hollyfrost. (Is this getting awkward or is it just me XDD We can stop this thread if you want Raven x3 I was a little derpy when I came up with this idea ^^; XDD I don't know where this is gonna lead, i did it for fun. Want to start from the field again?)

Cricketleap watched as the fox started to drown on it's own blood, he was looking into it's eyes, full of hate and loath of his spieces. Eyes wide he watched it take it's last attempted breath and then it's eyes glazed over. He looked over at Hollyfrost, eyes wide, his shoulder bleeding from where it bit him, "Wow, are you okay Hollyfrost?" he asked concerned. She looked terrified, he was pretty shaken too, but he had run into worse.
