Raccoontail padded through the forest, the light of the setting sun reflected off the sparkling snow creating a bloody glow. At her side walked Moonlight, a black she-cat with a white splotch over her eye and one of her good friends. The gray tabby she-cat took a seat between the roots of a large oak that protruded from under the ground. She blinked at the setting sun and turned to Moonlight, '' I can't believe he's dead... Lichenstar... He just seemed so timeless to me... '' She meowed softly as she drew her paw carefully along the snow, leaving a shallow trail. Raccoontail let out a soft sigh and then turned to Moonlight, '' But I have to focus on SunClan. The Warrior Code states I must pick a new deputy before the next sun down. Moonlight, will you be my deputy? '' Raccoontail asked her.

Moonlight padded through the forest with her friend, she had not known Raccoontail for a long time, but the were good friends none the less. Moonlight was shocked when her friend, and new leader asked her to be deputy! Moonlight struggled to get words out. "Wel...eh...um...well of co-course I would! I would be honored to be your deputy Racconta- I mean Raccoonstar!" Moonlight bowed to her new master, then remembered her true master then perked her head up. "So when will you be going to Starclan for acceptance, that is what you call it right? Starclan?" Moonlight purred in the nicest possible way she could manage.

Raccoontail smiled at Moonlight, happy that her friend would now be serving as her deputy. She laid her bushy tail over Moonlight's extremly long tail in a friendly gesture, '' Thank you Moonlight... I have great faith that you will make a great deputy and I'm sure StarClan has faith in you too. '' She purred back. Moonlight wasn't really familiar or sure with StarClan yet, so Raccoontail decided to take on the task of teaching her about their warrior ancestors. '' And yes, it is StarClan. Tonight at moonhigh I will go to Crystal Cave where StarClan will give me my nine lives. You will have to watch over the camp while I'm gone. '' She looked up at the sky to see the first stars begin to come out. Would they be attending her warrior ceremony? '' Are you sure you want to be deputy? I don't want you to do anything you aren't sure of just because I asked you too... I won't think any less of you if you refuse. '' She meowed to Moonlight, afraid she was pressuring her friend into something.

Moonlight smiled and backed up, "Of course I want to be deptuy! Its one of the biggest hononers in the clan is it not? That does not matter though, the thought that I might someday become leader is great enough for me!" Moonlight purred, remembering something her father had told her once, *"Remember my child, deputy is GOLDEN, when the leader dies YOU will become leader! Kill the new leader before they get there nine lives!"* She tried pushing her father words out of her mind, but his face came crawling back into her mind...those eyes. She felt ill, she fell to the ground her head throbbing, her vision began to fade, she vomited blood before all went dark. Then a voice "Awaken my child, and embrace the glory that is your birthright..." Father.

Raccoontail smiled as the black she cat reassured her. She had faith in Moonlight, no matter how shakey her paw steps may be now she knew that she would make a great deputy and a great leader. Raccoontail had faith in every cat, no matter how lost they were, which she prided herself on. '' Like I said before, I have faith- '' Raccoontail began to purr but cut off as Moonlight's eyes became very distant and the she-cat started shaking. '' Moonlight? '' Raccoonstar whispered, her concern reflected in her green eyes though her voice remained calm. Moonlight didn't answer, so Raccoontail repeated hersef. '' Moonli- '' Suddenly the black she-cat fell to the ground then coughed up blood. Her fur began to fluff up in panic, making her already bushy tail even bushier.
She stepped toward the she-cat, attmepting to flatten her fur, and placed one of her front paws gently over her flank. She was breathing a little fast but she seemed ok. '' Moonlight, '' Raccoontail called softly to her fallen friend, her voice filled with worry, '' Moonlight can you hear me? ''

Moonlight awoke, her blue eyes did not shine here, nothing much shined, except for the dark shade of red water that she was laying on now, her eyes took a while to get used to the dim place, but when they did, the scariest sight moonlight has ever saw befell her. Father. Moonlights face turned to one of terror, she tried to run but was unable, she looked down, trying to see what was holding her down, she looked up and her father was sprinting toward her, her eyes widened and her father, with full momentum got on his hind legs and used his for arm as a club at her neck, she got unstuck and flew back, hitting a large cliff of sorts, her father walked up to he rear and whispered, "You forget my teaching, you forget your mission! Don't fail me.." were his final words as she woke up spitting more blood on her black fur, she looked over to Raccoonstar and smiled. "Deputy, ready and willing to serve."

Raccoontail jumped back as Moonlight began to stir, coughing up a bit more blood. She flicked her ear in shock and disbelief as the black she-cat looked up and smiled at her. '' Moonlight... Are you ok? '' The tabby she-cat asked, '' You just... coughed up blood and blacked out... '' She meowed.

Moonlight looked confused and looked at her blood soaked pelt, sure it was matted and needed a rinse, but she found that red tint made it pretty. "Oh this? This is nothing im fine!" she said laughing, when she tried to stand up she could only see yellow out of her left eye, she put her paw over it and then looked at her new leader. "Care for a swim? It will take some cleaning to get this blood out of my fur." she said cocking her head and smiling some more.
