Rainpaw was tired. Tired of Cloudpaw. Tired of Weepingpaw. No, sick of Weepingpaw. For all she cared, MoonClan could take him prisoner and kill him. She wished he'd never survived their first attack against him. Then this whole mess wouldn't have happened in the first place.
She wandered through the tunnels of the Dark Cave, bats screeching every now and again. But she didn't care. It wasn't like anyone cared about her anyways. She was invisible. Just an invisible, nothing - special nobody. Why was she even born if life had no purpose for her?
Her brain hurt from over-stimulation. She was tired and sick. She wanted everything to be good again. She wanted her life back. She wanted so many things she felt her heart could explode. She just wanted freedom. She wanted to get away from it all. She wanted to get out of the Clan.

Spruceburn followed Rainpaw silently like a shadow, his paw steps matched with hers so she wouldn't hear them. The tabby tom had been watching Rainpaw, had seen how troubled she was with the drama of Weepingpaw and Cloudpaw. He half smiled to himself, happy that he would always be with Birdsong no matter what.
But he had to focus, now was not the time to think about Birdsong. If he played his cards right, Rainpaw could be just the partner he was looking for. Spruceburn came out of the shadows and stood behind Rainpaw.
'' Rainpaw? '' He meowed, making the young she-cat jump. '' It's ok. It's Spruceburn. '' He padded up to her so that she couldn't see the burnt side of his face. '' What're you doing in here by yourself? '' He asked her, his voice sounding curious and concerned even though he knew the answer.

"Why do you care?" Rainpaw growled, a strom cloud hanging over her head. "No one else cares where I am. I could die and they would never notice and forget I was ever a member of the clan. What use am I if no one cares about me?" She looked away, feeling a bit ashamed.
But then, there was nothing to be ashamed about. She was strong and intelligent, and also extremely agile. She was some use. But then again, if no one cares, then those skills didn't matter. But then she remembered that she had to answer Spruceburn. "Oh, just contemplating my meaningless life. Care to join me?"

Spruceburn blinked at Rainpaw sympathetically. '' I know how you feel. Like you have some much to offer, but only if everyone would look past their own wants and needs and see all of your potential. SunClan is full of cats like that. '' He meowed sadly. '' You and I, we have the same problem. Neither of us are useless, but everyone is to near sighted to see it. I've seen you jump. You jump high than a rabbit with wings! '' He meowed, his voice sounding like he was impressed. He made circles on the ground gently with one of his claws, as if he was thinking. '' One cat I can't stand... '' He voice beginning to sound bitter, '' Weepingpaw. '' Spruceburn spat. '' Arrogant little git. He thinks he is better than everyone else. As far as I'm concerned, he is no longer my apprentice. ''

Rainpaw's ears perked up. Was it possible? Could someone really...understand herr? Agree with her? Or was this just raw sympathy from an idiot who pitied her? But then again, Spruceburn was often resented for his outward appearance and attitude. She decided to trust him on that. And then he flattered her with comliments on her jumping. She smirked. "Oh, not only can I jump, I know a bunch of skills that no one else knows. They seem strange but they need a slimmer, more agile figure to pull off with just the right amount of strength," she meowed. And of course she would know, being the only one in the clan to have pulled them off. It was a bit frightening to her mentor, really. And then there was a subject that truely got her attention. "You don't like Weepingpaw either? You are joking, right? Every one seems to love him so much, although none as much as my moochy sister. She makes me so mad sometimes," she growled.

Spruceburn smiled at the young she-cat, '' You'll have to show me those moves some time, though I probably wouldn't be able to pull them off. I'm not the smallest cat in the clan. '' He meowed with a rusty laugh. The tabby tom quieted down so he could continue listening to Rainpaw. He nodded in agreement when she talked about her sister, Cloudpaw. '' Cloudpaw and Weepingpaw act like cats actually care that they're together. '' He meowed and then hit a small stone with one of his large front paws. '' And I know what you mean, Wolfstar gets under my pelt too. Sometimes I feel like the world would just be easier with out them. I mean, our problems come from the same place. Wolfstar just doesn't care about me, and from what you tell me, neither Weeepinpaw or Cloudpaw care about you. And it's Wolfstar's fault for bringing stupid Weepingpaw in the clan, right? '' He meowed to the she-cat, eyeing her as if he were expecting her to agree. '' If Wolfstar hadn't brought Weepingpaw in the clan, I wouldn't have an arrogant mouse-brain that I'm supposed to teach and you and your sister would get along just fine. ''

"Hm... I suppose you are right. But I liked Weepingkit at first. he was brave and cheeky, even milly attractive. But I guess he never saw what I saw. How could I have been so ignorant!" she growled, beginning to slide back into the war that was growing in her head. What ever Spruceburn was dong, he had just screwed it up. Rainpaw thrashed her head up and down and slammed her paw on the ground with force, causing the bats to screech and fly around chaotically. Rainpaw emitted a screech of her own and the bats seemingly disappeared. She shook her head back and fourth. "Just go on. Ignore my rage."

'' Look at me, '' Spruceburn suddenly growled, placing his paw on Rainnpaw's. When the young she-cat had finally calmed down, the tabby tom spoke. '' You aren't ignorant. You're better than Weepingpaw and Cloudpaw. They did this to you. I heard them talking one night. I didn't want to tell you... But I think you have a right to know... '' He meowed quietly, looking at Rainpaw with a sorry green eye. '' I... I heard them talking one night outside of camp. They were talking about you. And they said, or well Weepingpaw told Cloudpaw how he didn't really love her. Then Cloudpaw said that she didn't really love him either, she just wanted to make you jealous. And you know what? Weepingpaw was ok with it! '' He meowed angrily as if he were outraged and shocked by such a thing.
See how easy it is to lie? To manipulate cats? I'm proud of you kid. Those lies slid off of your toung like water flowing through the rive. The voice whispered in his ear.

Rainpaw's head snapped up to face Spruceburn. His face was emotionless, or at least from what she could see. Could it really be true? What kind of sister would do that? "A-are you serious? Or is this just you trying to get me on your side? I'm on no side but my own. My head is just a ball of blackness. If you peel it away, you'll meet the crumpled red core. I haven't been 'ok' for more than anyone knows. No one will ever understand the hell in my mind. It is even different from yours, Spruceburn," she whispered, her blue eyes like white fire.

Spruceburn flicked his good ear, '' Why would I lie to you? Do you want to know what side I'm on Rainpaw? I'm on the side of what's fair. Life isn't fair. StarClan forces lies and deceit and pain in our faces, and they expect us to take it! '' The tabby tom meowed, his voice growing more and more venomous. '' Well you know what? I'm not going to take it anymore. I'm taking my life into my own paws. I will not be pushed around anymore. I want what's fair and if StarClan won't give it to me, I'll take it myself. '' The young warrior flexed his claws, '' And I don't care who gets in my way. '' He looked at the young she-cat, his eye softening and sheathing his claws. '' You can't tell that you don't want that either, even if I don't understand what your hell is like. You can't tell me you don't want what's only fair, that you don't want justice. '' He flicked the tip of his tail, a shadow creeping into his eye, '' You know you want that cats that hurt you just to feel a tiny bit of the pain you've felt. To make them understand... '' He meowed.

Rainpaw snorted crossly. "I gave up on StarClan awhile ago. I gave up on SunClan awhile ago. I gave up on everything awhile ago. Nothing can ever be fair. YOu can't trick me with some bullshit like that. Freedom and justice is long gone. Justice would be Weepingpaw dead before he even got to SunClan and Freedom would be cats nt judging me for my ways. For being...different. Like Greenlily, she wouldn't judge me for how I take training to extremes. People shouldn't question my motives." she growled.

Spruceburn flicked his ear, '' You think you're the only one that feels misunderstood. People don't even give me a chance before they judge me. They don't take the time to learn my ways before judging me or even bother to learn my motives before questioning every single paw step I take. All they do is look at my face, and then turn their back on me! '' He growled, turning do the burnt side was in clear view and the normal side of his face was in the shadows. '' We can't change what happened. I can't make my face pretty again, '' He scoffed bitterly, remembering how arrogant he used to be. Feeling like nothing could stop him. '' And you can't change the fact that your sister and Weepingpaw are jealous of you. All we can do is make them pay. Make them see through our eyes, even if only for a day. '' He meowed quietly. '' I'm alone... Birdsong is what Greenlily is to you, but you and I both know it's not enough... We can help each other... I just want you to think about what I've said, ok? ''

Rainpaw turned away from him. "Yeah, fine. I'll think about how much life sucks and consider what you are saying. But, seriously, what do you want with me? Why are you so desperate to have me as an ally? You seem to be trying to get me to pity myself, yet dig more than that and bring out my pain on others. Though at the moment, the idea doesn't sound too terrible." she growled softly.

Spruceburn looked away from Rainpaw, looking deeper in the cave. A life time seemed to pass before he spoke, '' I want you as an ally because you have the potential to be great, and you have something most cats don't. A fire burning inside. '' He looked at the she-cat, his good eye burning into her. '' Not the kind of fire that keeps you warm. Not the kind of fire that brings light in the darkest of times. A fire that burns horribly. It licks your hurt until its burnt and ugly and it doesn't give light. All it does is cast shadows around you. I want to help you. I couldn't control that fire, I let it get to big and it escaped from me. And my face is like this. It's to late to put out the fire no matter how much it hurts. Wolfstar, and Cloudpaw, and Weepingpaw started it, so why shouldn't they get burned? Anger and agony are better than misery. '' He growled the last part, for he only knew how true it was and soon Rainpaw would know too.

Rainpaw shuffled her paws. His metoforical speaking got her a bit confused, but she didn't know why. What he said was said plainly my her brain was failing. Nothing made sene anymore. The only thing on hr mind was Weepingpaw. Her sister didn't matter. To get revenge, to make them both pay, she would simply have to kill Weep. Cold blooded, or not, she couldn't care less. How she would love to see him fall in batte. But she shook her head. Spruceburn was still there. She was losing it again. "Sorry," she growled. "I am having touble comprehending what you said. A bad fire. A fire that is burning and tearing me down. I can use my skills and be feared for them. I can kill my enemies. My question is, why don't you just go to MoonClan? Jetstar seems intent on desroying SunClan, why not join him? I wonder if that would be a better solution to my problems,"
